Why Edmonton ?
- Rita and Jean both settled in the Edmonton area, raised their families and are laid to rest here. Several of the MacMillan and Ball descendants lived in Edmonton for many years.
- Prices are cheaper in Edmonton than in the Vancouver area where the other largest group resides. (and no sales tax - at least not yet!)
- Two of the three original organizers : Patty Schachter from Calgary (Ball Clan) and Del MacMillan (MacMillan Clan), who lives in both Whitehorse & Edmonton, are closer to Edmonton so it will be easier for us to make arrangements. Maureen Denison and the McKenna Clan are spread out throughout Canada and the States and will have to travel regardless of the location. So the west, where the bulk of the descendants are made good sense.
- Edmonton has a lot of festivals and attractions scheduled
for the same weekend so there will be lots to do and see!
